Travelling With a Baby in a Group of Eight: Cot, Beds and Quiet Hours in a Rovaniemi Apartment
Can a group of eight with a baby stay at Nine Pines? An honest look at the beds, the free cot, the stairs and quiet hours before you book.

A group of eight with a baby can stay at Nine Pines, and a baby cot is free on request, but the answer depends on who the eight are. The apartment has six full-size adult sleeping places in the bedrooms plus a sofa bed sized for two children and an armchair bed, so “six adults, a teenager, a child and a baby” fits comfortably, while “eight adults and a baby” is tight. We would rather tell you that now than let you discover it at 23:00 on arrival. Check live dates and the guest count rules on Airbnb or Booking.com before you commit, and use this guide to plan the details.
How the beds really work for eight people
Nine Pines is 103 m² on one floor with three bedrooms:
- Bedroom 1: a 160 cm double bed.
- Bedroom 2: two 90 cm single beds.
- Bedroom 3: two 90 cm single beds.
- Living room: a sofa bed sized for two children, and an armchair bed.
That is six proper places for adults in the bedrooms. A group of eight with one baby normally means that two of the group, usually the older children, use the sofa bed or armchair bed, or that two adults who do not mind a less roomy bed take them. Maximum guests is nine, and the cot is extra to that sleeping arithmetic. Check how the booking platform counts infants when you enter the guest numbers; we would rather you ask us than guess. If you are unsure, message us with the ages and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
Where does the baby sleep?
Parents in this situation usually want the baby close but not in the middle of everyone. The cot is free on request, and we can talk through which room suits your family best before you arrive: the double bedroom is the obvious candidate for the parents and baby together, but a room with two single beds works well if two adults share and the baby has the quiet end.
Some practical points to settle in your first message to us:
- Which room do you want the cot in? Say so in your message and we will set it up before you arrive.
- Do you bring your own travel cot? Some families prefer their own because the baby already sleeps in it.
- What does the baby need for bedtime? Blackout, white noise, a particular lamp. Tell us what you usually use; we will say what the room has and what to bring. In a polar winter the outside is dark for most of the day anyway, but in late winter and spring there is much more daylight, which is when a travel blackout blind earns its place.
Quiet hours with a baby in the group
Nine Pines is in a family building, with quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00. A baby who wakes at 03:00 is not a rule-breaker; a seven-adult party at midnight would be. The practical advice is to plan the group’s evening around the baby’s bedtime, keep voices low in the living room after dinner, and know that the bedroom doors close. There are no parties allowed, and maximum nine guests, which for a family trip means exactly the kind of evening that fits. Our post on quiet hours and late arrivals goes into this in more detail.
Feeding, washing and the kitchen
The kitchen is equipped for nine: dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee machine and kettle. A dining table for six means the adults eat in two sittings, or the group splits between table and sofa while the baby has their own meal.
For baby supplies, the practical plan is to bring what is specific to your child, and buy general items such as nappies and food in the two grocery stores near the flat, K-Market and Sale. We cover this in a separate post on baby and toddler supplies in a Rovaniemi apartment.
The washing machine and tumble dryer are the real winner with a baby. Bibs, babygrows and the inevitable outfit change go in after dinner and are dry by morning, which is why you can pack so much lighter than you think. See our guide to packing light with a washer and dryer.
Stairs, prams and getting out the door
The apartment is on the second floor and there is no lift. That means one flight of stairs with a pram, the luggage and a baby. With eight people, you will usually have the numbers to carry things in a couple of trips, but it is worth knowing before you book. Most families take a lightweight fold-up stroller or a carrier rather than a bulky pushchair; see pushchairs and prams in a winter apartment with stairs.
In winter you also need a car seat or a plan for one. Our guide to child car seats for taxis and rental cars explains the options. A taxi from the airport takes about 15 minutes and costs roughly €35–45. By car the centre is 8 minutes away, and Santa Claus Village, SantaPark and the airport are 15 minutes away. There is one free parking space in the yard next to the entrance, with room for a car with a roof box and an ice scraper and snow brush provided.
Check-in with a sleeping baby
Check-in is from 16:00, any time including late at night, by code lockbox. The code and a photo guide arrive three days before you do, so a group landing at 23:40 with a sleeping baby can go straight to the door without waiting for anyone. We live a few minutes away and usually reply within the hour if anything goes wrong.
What a day looks like
Plan one shorter outdoor block a day, and have the rest in the flat. The Korkalovaara hills have sledging, and the forest trails a few minutes away work for a pram-and-boots walk when conditions allow. The bus stop is 150 m from the door, with a direct bus to the city centre taking about 15 minutes. The washing machine runs while you are out.
FAQ: baby in a group of eight
Is the cot included?
A baby cot is free on request. Ask when you book and say which room you would like it in.
Can eight adults and a baby stay?
Only with a compromise: the sofa bed is sized for two children, not two adults. Message us with the ages before booking.
Does a baby count as a guest?
Platforms count infants differently. Check the guest rules on the listing page you use, and tell us the baby’s age in your message.
Is there a high chair?
We do not list one. Ask before arrival and we will tell you what we can arrange.
